June 17, 2018.  In the living quarters, during meals and all activities, I have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the amazing students that have come to this program.  There were 128 students taking the placement exam, and perhaps 30 more that came in at level 1.  They come from all over the world.  Most seem to be young, working for non-profits.  But there are also diplomats, teachers and every walk of life.  They all have one thing in common, they are out of my league, but inspiring.  All are kind and anxious to extend a hand of friendship.  There were several events today, in addition to the three meals (I will get fat here, despite the hill).  We started our day at a leisurely 10 am, with Cultural Sensitivity & Emergency Preparedness in Littlefield Concert Hall and Orientation at the Student Union.  Convocation was encouraged as a “formal” event, and indeed, many people dressed up.  We shared this event with the Korean School.  Instructors from both schools treated us to authentic (I presume) musical performances.
